About us

Anna University, located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of India’s most prestigious technical universities, renowned for its excellence in engineering, technology, and applied sciences. Established on September 4, 1978, the university was named after former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai and was formed by merging several renowned technical institutions in the city, including the College of Engineering, Guindy (CEG), Alagappa College of Technology (ACT), and Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). Over the decades, Anna University has become a premier center for higher education, research, and innovation in India.

The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across various disciplines such as engineering, technology, architecture, and applied sciences. It follows a semester-based credit system, ensuring a strong academic structure combined with practical and research-oriented learning. Anna University is affiliated with more than 500 engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu, maintaining academic standards through a common curriculum and centralized examination system.
